DuPont™ Kalrez® Valve Stem Packing (KVSP™) is the most effective packing-based solution to help reduce fugitive air emissions and valve leakage in chemical and petroleum manufacturing processes. KVSP™ comprises of a combination of DuPont™ Kalrez® perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) parts and DuPont™ Vespel® V-rings, and is designed to reduce stem-based fugitive emissions and improve process control throughout the lifespan of the valve.
- KVSP™ has several benefits as listed below:It provides performance that approaches zero leakage. This is verified using EPA Method 21 for the determination of leakage of hydrocarbon-based volatile organic compounds.
- Compared to graphite packings, it requires smaller valve actuators due to the lesser compressive force required by it, and it also generates lower valve stem friction.
- Compared to PTFE packings, it performs better when temperature cycling is involved in conjunction with operational cycling.
- It requires practically no maintenance.
The temperature range for KVSP™ was tested to ANSI/FCI 91-1-1994 protocol for fugitive emissions in Class 600 valves from –40 to 288 °C. With over 3000 installations in gate, globe, manual and control valves in refineries and petrochemical companies across India, this is the go-to product wherever emission levels have to be maintained under 50 ppm.
