Kalrez® Spectrum™ 6380
The Ideal Solution for Amine and Ethylene Oxide Resistance in the Petrochemical Industry
Crude oil or natural gas can be considered as ‘sour’ if it contains a high percentage of hydrogen sulfide, a naturally occurring chemical that can in high concentrations kill wildlife and human beings. The presence of higher concentration of hydrogen sulfide in crude oil and natural gas has been linked to the depth of oil/gas reserves, and increased HPHT drilling in recent years has led to more of the gas being found in our crude oil/natural gas deposits.
In any oil and gas refinery, amine “sweetening” processes are essential in order to remove the hydrogen sulfide out of the crude oil/natural gas. However, standard FKM and FFKM materials tend to fail when exposed to hot amines, raising the risk of hazardous leakages of hydrogen sulfide and danger to limb and life.
Kalrez® Spectrum™ 6380 is the FFKM solution to all amine resistance problems. Developed Specifically for broad chemical applications, Kalrez® Spectrum™ 6380 is a cream-colored compound that offers superior resistance to amines as well as ethylene oxide, two chemicals essential in the oil and gas refining process. Under test conditions, Kalrez® Spectrum™ 6380 products have shown 10 to 15 times lesser swell, and a far longer service life than competitor FFKM products. With a maximum service temperature of 225°C, Kalrez® Spectrum™ 6380 has increased the mean time between repairs, and reduced significant costs for our customers.
